Reading Task

Your reading task today is to read the section of the Octopus text on the document below (you read the whole text yesterday) and then answer the questions that are at the bottom of the document. Make sure you are answering your questions in full sentences and using PEE (point, evidence, explanation) where needed. Send us any questions or any completed work on your class email addresses.

Writing Task

Your writing challenge for today is:

Story Writing - A Strange Tale

I have not told this story to many people. It is a strange story and not everyone would believe it.

Make up your own short story, using this beginning.

Top Tips:

Let your imagination run riot. You could set it in the past, present or future. You could base it on a story you know.

In your writing, make sure you are trying to use the Year 5 skills that we have learned this year. You could use:

- a drop-in clause to add extra detail to your sentences

- figurative language (similes, metaphors, personification, onomatopoeia, alliteration) to exaggerate your strange story

- a variety of different sentence starters to make your story interesting (ISPACE sentence starters are a good place to start)

Good Luck! Send us your completed pieces of writing, we would love to read them! We will give you some pointers on how you could make your story even better. You could hand-write your story or type it straight onto the document below.
