History

Normally the early May bank holiday falls on the first Monday of May. But this year it won't be on May 4, it will be on Friday 8th May. This is because the Government have announced the change of date to mark the 75th anniversary of VE Day. VE Day, which stands for Victory in Europe Day, was the day towards the end of World War Two when fighting against Nazi Germany came to an end in Europe. The day has only been moved once before, in 1995, to mark the 50th anniversary of VE Day.

Watch the clip and carry out some more research.

Your task is to then create something around VE day. You may want to make a poster or leaflet with facts, you may want to make a medal. You could make some bunting or a spitfire plane. The choice is yours.
