Year 4 PE Weekly Fundamental Challenges- W/B 27th April 2020

 

This week we care continuing to concentrate on reaction/ response.

You will recognise the coloured levels from last week.  We have added the higher levels for you to challenge yourself.

 

There is also a challenge game to play with a the family member - ideally you will need a ball each, but you can modify the game to play with soft objects- ie rolled up socks/ soft toys.

 

From a distance of 1, 2 and 3 metres:

 

I can react and catch a large ball dropped from shoulder height after 2 bounces.

I can react and catch a large ball dropped from shoulder height after 1 bounce.

 

 

I can react quickly and catch a tennis ball dropped from shoulder height after 1 bounce.

 

 

I can react quickly and catch a tennis ball dropped from shoulder height after 1 bounce, balancing on 1 leg. From a distance of 1, 2 and 3 metres:

 

I can react and catch a large ball dropped from shoulder height after 2 bounces.

I can react and catch a large ball dropped from shoulder height after 1 bounce.

 

 

 

I can react quickly and catch a tennis ball dropped from shoulder height after 1 bounce, balancing on 1 leg.

 

I can react to a call from a partner when they drop a ball, turn and catch it after 1 bounce.

I can do the above challenge, but react to the sound of the bounce rather than the call.

 

Challenge game

Work with a partner in a small area and with a ball each. Both throw your balls at the same time with the aim of making them clash in the middle. React to what happens in order to catch your partner’s ball as quickly as you can and before it leaves the area.

Use the ideas below to make the activity more or less challenging depending on how you’re finding it:
