Primary Stars Numeracy Workshops - St Mary's Stadium- Monday 21st October
Eight lucky Year 4 children travelled to St Mary's Stadium to have a series of maths sessions with a Premier League twist. The children were set a number of mathematical challenges by the Southampton Primary Stars team. These included data handling using league tables, multiplication target throwing and a Top Trumps style challenge using player stats. All the children loved the visit especially as it was a first time glimpse behind the scenes for most of them. Strangely, mathematics aside, the most intriguing thing for all the children from all the schools on the visit was finding out all about the grass on the pitch at St Marys'- its partly artificial and gets cut twice a day and had thousands of pounds worth of special lights helping it grow while we watched!
